Senior Assistant

The Australian Embassy is advertising an on-going position of Senior Assistant.

This role presents an exciting career and learning opportunity, including the opportunity to work collaboratively across the Embassy and contribute to some of Australia’s most important corporate work in the Lao PDR. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to fill the role, with the ability to work independently and as part of a small team.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • English proficiency that is highly effective in a range of situations, including, but not limited to, interpreting, translating, hosting and conversing with Laos and English speakers from a range of backgrounds and with law enforcement.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving capacity.
  • Highly developed organisational and time management skills to prioritise and complete competing priorities.
  • An ability to use initiative, work flexibly and autonomously as well as supervise others.
  • Ability to organise complex activities involving multiple agencies.
  • Well-developed knowledge of Lao PDR public security and Lao PDR MPS and other law enforcement organisations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills, especially within the Laos law enforcement context.
  • Desirable to have experience in Lao PDR Public Security Organisation or similar Lao PDR Government Organisation.
