The Australian Embassy is advertising an on-going position of Ambassador Personal Assistant.

This role presents an exciting career and learning opportunity, including the opportunity to work collaboratively across the Embassy and contribute to some of Australia’s most important corporate work in the Lao PDR. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to fill the role, with the ability to work independently and as part of a small team.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Relevant experience in filling a similar role in government, private or organisation sectors.
  • Experience in managing Ambassador’s office and diary of appointments, arranging and coordinating all telephone calls, appointments and official engagements for the Ambassador in conjunction with relevant sections.
  • Ability to provide reception duties for visitors to the office of the Ambassador and provide refreshments as necessary.
  • Ability to provide liaison duties for the Ambassador with other Embassies, Government Ministries, Lao People’s Revolutionary Party organisations, NGOs, private sector and other organisations.
  • Ability to build rapport and maintain stakeholder relationships with counterparts in senior government agencies.
  • Attention to detail, including in verbal and written advice, and the ability to switch focus between issues.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in teams.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Flexibility to change priorities, and willingness to provide support across a range of administrative functions, if required.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication in English and Lao.
