Madame Chanpeng, my colleague Lachlan Strachan and members of Australia’s human rights delegation, Mr Sisavath Khomphone, DDG from the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, Centre staff and trainees, ladies and gentlemen.

It is an honour to receive this special award today, on behalf of the Australian Government.

Yesterday, in our dialogue with Laos, Lachlan raised a number of issues affecting people with a disability in Laos, where government leadership can help break down barriers, and change attitudes towards people with a disability.

I’m delighted today Lachlan, and our other colleagues from Canberra, have a chance to see, first hand, some of the outstanding work taking place here to promote opportunities for women with a disability.

Disability inclusive development is a priority for Australia in Laos, and globally.
ນະໂຍບາຍນີ້ ເປັນສ່ວນໜຶ່ງຂອງ ຍຸດທະສາດ ການພັດທະນາ ເພື່ອທຸກຄົນ, ອົດສະຕຣາລີ ພະຍາຍາມ ເຮັດໃຫ້ທຸກໂຄງການຊ່ວຍເຫຼືອ ເພື່ອການພັດທະນາ ພິຈາລະນາຄວາມຈຳເປັນ, ສ້າງໂອກາດ, ໃຫ້ຄົນພິການ ທຸກຄົນ.
As part of our Development for All Strategy, Australia tries to ensure all our aid programs consider the needs of, and create opportunities for, people with a disability.
ວຽກງານ ດ້ານນີ້, ໂດຍສະເພາະ ຢູ່ສູນແຫ່ງນີ້, ແມ່ນຄວາມປະທັບໃຈ ຈາກ ແຮງຈູງໃຈຂອງຄວາມຜູກພັນ ໃນ ຄຳສັນຍາ ຂອງບຸກຄົນ ຢູ່ໃນ ອົດສະຕຣາລີ ເຖິງ ປະເທດລາວ.
Our work in this field, and with this Centre, has been rewarding in the way it has connected inspiring, committed individuals from Australia and Laos.
ຢ່າງໜ້ອຍມີ ອາສາສະໝັກ ອົດສະຕຣາລີ 10 ຄົນ ເຄີຍມາເຮັດວຽກ ຢູ່ສູນແຫ່ງນີ້ ຕະຫຼອດໄລຍະ ທົດສະວັດຜ່ານມາ.
At least 10 Australian volunteers have worked with the Centre over the past decade.
ທຸກຄົນ ໄດ້ສົ່ງຕໍ່ຄວາມຮູ້ ທີ່ເປັນປະໂຫຍດ ເພື່ອສ້າງຄວາມເຂັ້ມແຂງໃຫ້ສູນ. ແຕ່ທຸກຄົນ ກັບຄືນອົດສະຕຣາລີ ໂດຍມີ ມິດຕະພາບ, ຄວາມເຂົ້າໃຈໃໝ່ ແລະ ຫົວໃຈ ທີ່ເຕັມປ່ຽມດ້ວຍຄວາມຮັກ ຍ້ອນ ຄວາມດີ ແລະ ຄວາມງາມ ຂອງຄົນລາວ.
Volunteers able to pass on useful knowledge to strengthen the work of the Centre. But who have each returned to Australia with new friendships, new understanding, and hearts that beat fondly at the mention of Laos and its beautiful, resilient people.
ຂ້າພະເຈົ້າ ພາກພູມໃຈ ກັບ ສາຍພົວພັນ ລະຫວ່າງ ສອງຊາດ ແລະ ສອງອົງການ, ແລະ ເຊື່ອໝັ້ນວ່າ ສາຍພົວພັນນີ້ ຈະສືບຕໍ່ເຂັ້ມແຂງໃນອະນາຄົດ.
I’m proud of these links between our two countries and our two organisations, and I’m confident this relationship will continue for many years to come.
