The Direct Aid Program (DAP) 2016 – 2017 Call for Applications

The Australian Embassy Vientiane is calling for applications for the 2016-2017 Direct Aid Program (DAP) funding round. DAP is a flexible, small grant scheme which provides direct benefits to those most in need in the local community.
DAP projects should primarily focus on achieving practical and tangible outcomes and contributing to poverty alleviation. Projects that may be considered cover a broad range of topics and can include community health, schools and education, small-scale infrastructure, promoting women’s empowerment, indigenous groups and vulnerable minority groups (including people with disabilities), governance, human rights, the environment and proposals with a strong advocacy component.
Individuals, community groups, the private sector, local government agencies and non government organisations (NGOs) engaged in development activities on a not-for-profit basis are encouraged to submit applications for funding.

Projects supported by DAP in 2015-2016:
- Educational material for Book Tuk-Tuk – Literacy and Hygiene Education in Nam bac, Nan and Luang Prabang Districts;
- Construction of a new school building and new furniture for Namdee Village Primary School, Luang Namtha Province;
- Construction of a new school building at Somsamay Secondary School, Xaythany District, Vientiane Capital;
- Construction of building to house a generator, Atsaphanthong District Hospital, Savannakhet Province;
- Installation of electricity in classrooms in Vang Vieng Upper Secondary School, Vientiane Province;
- Support road safety training to provincial road safety committees, and develop road safety awareness through primary and lower secondary school curriculums;
- Provision of sustainable water supply for 222 households in two communities in Oudomxay province;
- Refurbish and set up of a multifunctional Centre at the Lao Disabled People's Association (LDPA), Vientiane Capital.
- Lao Men Standing Up and Speaking Out (SUSO) to stop violence against women;
- Supply IT equipment to the National Library of Laos (NLL) - Improving Public Access to Information (IPAI), Vientiane Capital;
- Create an audiobook and training material, and provide training to the blind on Computer Skills and the "Non-Visual Desktop Access" (NVDA) screen reader;
- Medical equipment, Vanvieng District Hospital and Children’s hospital in Vientiane Capital;
- Signage for the Tat Kuang Si Bear Rescue Centre, Ban Thapene, Luang Prabang Province;
- Renovation of housing facilities for vulnerable girls and women in Sengsavang, Savannakhet province;
- Funding Soap4schoolsluangprabang’s program, Luang Prabang Province;
- Educational material for the prevention of malaria in Nong District, Savannakhet Province;
- Educational material and conservation activities for ‘The Elephant Caravan’, Xayaboury and Luang Prabang Province;
- Refurbishment of school building, Phatang Upper Secondary School, Vientiane Province;
- Refurbishment of classrooms, including the toilets at Thapene Primary School, Luang Prabang Province.

ສະຖານທູດອົດສະຕຣາລີ ປະຈຳ ສປປ ລາວ ຂໍເຊີນທ່ານຍື່ນບົດສະເໜີຂໍທຶນຈາກໂຄງການ ຊ່ວຍເຫຼືອໂດຍກົງ ຫຼື Direct Aid Program ສຳລັບ ສົກປີ 2016-2017. ໂຄງການ DAP ໃຫ້ການສະໜັບສະໜູນ ປະເທດກຳລັງພັດທະນາ ເພື່ອຫລຸດຜ່ອນຄວາມທຸກຍາກ ແລະ ຊ່ວຍໃນການພັດທະນາແບບຍືນຍົງ.
