It’s great to be with you at Nongniaw Primary School to celebrate global handwashing day.
I remember when I was a primary school student in Brisbane, Australia, many years ago, running around the playground barefoot all day, covered in dirt.
I don’t remember that basic hygiene or washing my hands was a great priority.
I am glad students here at Nongniaw know differently, thanks to their dedicated teachers – and the handwashing facilities they have been provided.
Australia is dedicated to helping the Lao PDR improve education outcomes for all Lao children.
We want all Lao children to get the education they need to achieve their full potential.
We don’t think there is any more important issue in Laos’ socio-economic development.
But it’s not just about the quality of teaching they receive.
The environment in which children are learning matters too.
So Australia is delighted with our partnership with UNICEF in Laos to improve water, sanitation and hygiene facilties and practices in schools.
It’s how we can help ensure more children go to primary school and are better able to learn at school.
So students, enjoy your school. It’s a great time in your lives. And remember to wash your hands after playing and before eating.

ຂ້າພະເຈົ້້າ ຮູ້ສຶກດີໃຈທີ່ສຸດ ທີ່ໄດ້ມາໂຮງຮຽນ ໜອງໜ້ຽວ ເພື່ອສະຫຼອງ ວັນລ້າງມືສາກົນຮ່ວມກັບທຸກໆຄົນ ໃນມື້ນີ້.
ຂ້າພະເຈົ້າ ຈື່ໄດ້ວ່າ ຫຼາຍປີຜ່ານມາ ຕັ້ງແຕ່ຍັງຮຽນ ຢູ່ປະຖົມ ຢູ່ ເມືອງບິດສເບິນ ປະເທດອົດສະຕຣາລີ, ຂ້າພະເຈົ້າ ໄດ້ແລ່ນ ອ້ອມເດີ່ນ ປະຕີນເປົ່າ ຕົນໂຕເຕັມແຕ່ຂີ້ຝຸ່ນ.
ແຕ່ຂ້າພະເຈົ້າ ຈື່ບໍໍ່ໄດ້ວ່າ ຫຼັກການພື້ນຖານດ້ານສຸຂະອານາໄມ ຫຼື ການລ້າງມື ນັ້ນ ມັນເປັນສິ່ງຈຳເປັນຕົ້ນຕໍແນວໃດ.
ຂ້າພະເຈົ້້າ ຮູ້ສຶກດີໃຈ ທີ່ນັກຮຽນໂຮງຮຽນໜອງໜ້ຽວ ມີຄວາມເຂົ້າໃຈຕ່າງ ຈາກ ຂ້າພະເຈົ້້າ, ເຊິ່ງຕ້ອງຂອບໃຈ ຕໍ່ ຄວາມຕັ້ງໃຈ ຂອງ ບັນດາຄູອາຈານ ແລະ ອ່າງລ້າງມືທີ່ມອບໃຫ້ໂຮງຮຽນ.
ລັດຖະບານອົດສະຕຣາລີ ມີຄວາມຕັ້ງໃຈ ຢາກຊ່ວຍ ລັດຖະບານລາວ ໃນການ ປັບປຸງຜົນການຮຽນຂອງເດັກນ້ອຍລາວໝົດທຸກຄົນ.
ພວກເຮົາ ຢາກເຫັນເດັກນ້ອຍລາວໝົດທຸກຄົນ ໄດ້ຮັບການສຶກສາ ເຊິ່ງເປັນສິ່ງຈຳເປັນ ເພື່ອຊ່ວຍໃຫ້ມີຄວາມຮູ້ຄວາມສາມາດ.
ພວກເຮົາຄິດວ່າ ບໍ່ມີບັນຫາອື່ນ ທີ່ສຳຄັນກວ່ານີ້ອີກແລ້ວ ໃນການພັດທະນາເສດຖະກິດ ແລະ ສັງຄົມຂອງລາວ.
ແຕ່ນັ້ນ. ບໍ່ໄດ້ໝາຍເຖິງ ພຽງແຕ່ ຄຸນນະພາບການສິດສອນທີ່ພວກເຂົາໄດ້ຮັບເທົ່ານັ້ນ.
ສະພາບແວດລ້ອມທີ່ເດັກນ້ອຍຮຽນຢູ່ ກໍ່ເປັນສິ່ງສຳຄັນເຊັ່ນກັນ.
ດັ່ງນັ້ນ, ລັດຖະບານອົດສະຕຣາລີ ມີຄວາມຍິນດີ ທີ່ໄດ້ຮ່ວມມືກັບ ອົງການຢູນິເຊບ ປະຈຳລາວ ໃນການປັບປຸງ ສິ່ງອຳນວຍຄວາມສະດວກດ້ານສຸຂະພິບານ ແລະ ກິດຈະກຳສຸຂະອານາໄມໃນໂຮງຮຽນ.
ນັ້ນແມ່ນສິ່ງທີ່ທາງລັດຖະບານອົດສະຕຣາລີ ສາມາດຊ່ວຍຮັບປະກັນ ໃຫ້ມີເດັກນ້ອຍ ເຂົ້າໂຮງຮຽນຫຼາຍຂຶ້ນ ແລະ ສາມາດຮ່ຳຮຽນໃນໂຮງຮຽນໄດ້ດີຂຶ້ນ.
ຂໍໃຫ້ພາກັນ ໃຊ້ເວລາໃນໂຮງຮຽນຢ່າງມ່ວນຊື່ນ ເພາະມັນເປັນເວລາທີ່ສະໜຸກສະ
ໜານ ໃນຊີວິດຂອງພວກຫຼານ, ແລະ ກໍ່ຂໍໃຫ້ພາກັນ ຢ່າລື່ມ ລ້າງມື ຫຼັງຈາກຫຼິ້ນແລ້ວ ແລະ ກ່ອນກິນເຂົ້າທຸກໆເທື່ອເດີ້ !
